The Encaustic Center is a unique facility where instructors Bonny Leibowitz and Deanna Wood teach the art of painting with wax. The Encaustic Center also offers multi day guest artist workshops, specialty workshops, and mini workshops. Please join the mailing list for monthly announcements: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We offer a variety of ways to learn:
*Start out with a 1-day Introductory Beginner Workshop ($120, all materials included). In these Beginner Workshops you will be learning a variety of techniques including how to build layers, fuse, texture, work with grids, stencils, embed objects, incise, transfer, collage and much more along with a working knowledge on how to melt and mix wax, a bit about the history of wax painting, a working knowledge of supplies and how to create your own workspace! All supplies included. Most Fridays and Saturdays 10:00 to 4:00. Please see the schedule page and email for availability email@example.com.
*Once you've taken an introductory / beginner workshop, come for Assisted Workdays for help on your work, delving further into processes and learning techniques such as pours, texture, collage, transfers, painterly effects, monotype, 3-D, and hot tool use with step-by-step instruction ($60 for 3 hours). *Once you've taken an introductory / beginner workshop, come back for Independent Workdays to create without any formal instruction using all of our equipment and supplies ($16.00 per hour).
Monday: noon to 3:00 or 7:00 to 10:00 pm
Tuesday: noon to 3:00
Wednesday: 10:00 to 1:00 or 7:00 to 10:00 pm
Friday: 10:00 to 4:00 or choose a 3 hour increment
Saturday: 10:00 to 4:00 or choose a 3 hour increment
Sunday: noon to 3:00

All supplies are included but you might like to bring special papers, leaves, Xerox and inkjet prints, drawings, unglazed ceramic pieces, stencils, stamps, threads, etc. We supply plywood boards and have cradled boards for sale. Check our schedule to find a class that works for you. We also sell encaustic supplies and painting panels.
